The African American Legacy Fund of Indianapolis (AALFI), a fund of Central Indiana Community Foundation, is launching a new philanthropic community initiative with the help and support of Grassroots Grantmakers. Currently in its silent fundraising phase, the goal of AALFI is to cultivate over 100 individual donors and raise over $200,000 within the next few months for an endowed donor-advised fund and to create a giving circle led by donors to the fund. Grassroots Grantmakers supports and encourages the organizing of community-based funds as an effective grassroots strategy to build community while also investing in communities.
